Our Aims

  • To stimulate interest in the town of Evesham and the surrounding villages
  • To promote high standards of planning and architecture in the Vale of Evesham
  • To secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of features of historic or public interest in the Vale of Evesham

What We Do

  • We take an active interest in everything that is happening in the town and in the Vale of Evesham
  • We work closely with our local planning authority, Wychavon District Council
  • The Society is also represented on Evesham Town Council's Town Promotion Committee, to the Vale of Evesham Tourist Association and to the government-sponsored Market Towns Initiative
  • We set up displays and exhibitions to promote interest in the town and the Vale
  • We identify "grot-spots" and initiate ideas for the improvement of sensitive sites
  • We produce publications including a Town Trail, a Village Trail, a popular mini-guide to Evesham for visitors and, in conjunction with the Simon de Montfort Society, a leaflet about the Battle of Evesham
  • We have a lively programme of excursions during the Summer months and monthly talks on a wide variety of subjects during the Winter months

The Society is affiliated to the Civic Trust and is a corporate member of the West Midlands Amenity Societies Association and the Association of Small Historic Towns and Villages

Evesham became an attractive town with pleasant riverside parks a century ago because there were public spirited people of substance who were proud of their town.  Please help us to keep it that way by joining your local Civic Society.  Please click here for an application form.
